It felt like the first official week of summer this weekend. The sun shined brightly and for the first time the heat really beat down on us here in Vancouver. I’m so stoked to have been part of the photography committee at this year’s Vancouver Folk Festival. With a total of 6 stages and tons of activities for everyone young, old and in between, the Folk Festival was an amazing way to spend a weekend.
The great thing about this festival is that it’s as eco-friendly as it gets. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bottles and water stations could be found all across the site. Amazing! Most vendors had decomposable cutlery and cups. Volunteers were placed at each recycling and garbage station to ensure all items were properly separated. I could go on all day about how amazing I think this is.
With the freedom to basically roam the entire grounds, up and around all stages, this gave us the unique opportunity to get some very interesting angles and shots. The people, the music, the vibe, all of it was so light-hearted and amazing. Sam Roberts closed the show on Saturday evening with an amazing set and probably some of my favourite photographs. Oh, the feels!
I can’t wait to join the crew again next year for more festivities and music!
